Past FIELD TRIPS (guided geological walks led by an expert) are graded gentle G (mainly on paths with no steep or rocky areas), moderate M ( up to 9 km with some rough ground and slopes), and hard H (10 km or more with steep slopes). Itineraries may have to be altered at short notice due to extreme weather etc. Check email.

Grade M/H. The excursion is around 6.5 km (4 miles) with 365m (1200ft) of ascent on rough mountain paths with some rocky ground, 4-5 hours. Good footwear is strongly advised. -

An underground visit to the world’s deepest gypsum mine. Transport by Landrover in the 9m-high tunnels. We will be limited to 8 participants (2 cars underground).

We have arranged a group visit to the museum and will be met early afternoon by the Director of the Museum Jonathan Clatworthy and his staff.
There will be a brief presentation regarding the history of the Lapworth Museum, a gallery tour, and a look behind the scenes at both the specimen based stores and the archives.
